From the inception of sports betting in Las Vegas, the Stardust Race and Sports Book was the line setter for all sports betting. Most all sports book managers in the business cut their teeth at the Stardust. The Stardust was the first book to open the line and every other sports book checked the Stardust line before opening or moving their line. In 2003 we saw the beginning of the merger and consolidation of several major sports books in Las Vegas with the vast majority of action equally divided between the Stardust, Hilton and MGM-Mirage. In 2006 we witnessed the implosion of the Stardust as it turned to dust. The legendary Stardust and its original famous bookmaker Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal, portrayed in the movie by Robert DeNiro, is now history.
Rising Star now uses a consensus closing line from the Hilton and MGM-Mirage in its statistical database and in computing the recommended plays. You should use this consensus line, as close to kick off as possible, to figure the Rising Star recommended plays. If your line is as good or better than this line make your play as recommended. If your line is worse than the consensus line you will need to refigure and play accordingly. In making your wager you should place it as close as possible to the kick off time. Since our method is going against the betting public, the later we wait the better we know where the public money has been placed.
Note: If the Hilton and MGM-Mirage lines differ, use Caesars line as a tie breaker.
